SZIN festival SZEGED/HUNGARY :D |
 |
Hey!
I found in the newspaper that Guano Apes will play in my city
And the official site of the festival also writes about it. You can't imagine how happy I am
So here are the details:
Szegedi Ifjúsági Napok - SZIN
Date: 26.-29. august 2009.
Place: SZEGED - the beach of Újszeged (bank of Tisza River)
Szeged can be found on the South of Hungary. It is 172 km away from Budapest in the direction of Serbia. It is approximetly 30 km away from the Serbian border.
Ticket prices:
1 day ticket: until 19 th august: 17 euros (4900 HUF)
on the day of the festival: 20 euros (6000 HUF)
3 day ticket: until 19th july: 40 euros (12000 HUF)
from 20 th july until 19th august: 45 euros (13500 HUF)
on the day of the festival: 54 euros (16000 HUF)
website: www.szin.org
Some information is not yet avilable (for example the prgram and the map, etc) because the site is under construction.
Confirmed bands: Guano Apes
, Gabriella Cilmi, !DelaDap, Russkaja (?) and a lot of hungarian bands.
The line up is not complete yet, these are the first confirmed bands.
If you have any question, I'm at your disposal

wow!!!!! That's great for the Serbian fans - it's really just a stone's throw away from Serbia! And I prefer this one to Sziget festival as it seems to be not so damn large^^ cool, cool!

Yeah, this festival is much smaller. And the sounding was really good last year, much better than the sounding on the Sziget fest
Hope it will be the same this year.

aah, but can anyone tell me how am i supposed to get there? I didn't found any airports near Szeged... are there buses running from Budapest to Szeged? Or is it better to go by train? |
There are lot of buses and trains for similar price... You don't have to worry... If you are from Germany or Austria, buy in any promotion bus or train ticket to Budapest and ticket to Szeged you can buy directly at the station

Have no idea about buses, but you can defo go by train!
It takes you 2h30 to get there (it's less than 200kms - here in Hungary everything takes just too long!!) and the ticket costs around 3000huf (10€). Don't know if it's a round ticket or one way though!
Hope I was helpful

thank you guys
good to know that Szeged is well connected with Budapest, it looked so far away in the map... but sure, 172 km isn't that far actually.
now i have to check out if it's cheaper to fly to Budapest or to go there by train :}

train is probably cheaper
i think a round trip from Wien (sorry, don't know from Linz) is 12000huf (40€).

yeah, Vienna is very close to Budapest.. and in July and August going by train in Austria is even free for me (holiday ticket for Austrian railway card holders)
but Marc has to pay quite a lot from Munich (and i will be in Munich too i suppose, so first we gotta get to the Austrian borders) hmm...
Lufthansa flys Munich-Budapest and back for 99€/person :/ but yeah, maybe train would be a little cheaper altogether.
Btw, who else is considering to go to Szin festival?

I consider to go there
Anyway...From Budapest to Szeged bus is faster (about 2 hours, train is 2 and a half hours). But I always preferred train (train station of Budapest is in the city center, bus station is not really). One way ticket costs 3000 HUF (10 euros), so return ticket is 20 euros. Intercity ticket is + 2x2 euros, which means the same train but not that dirty as the normal one (so duration of the journey is exactly the same for higher prices).
If u can travel for free in Austria, I recommend you to travel until Hegyeshalom (10 kms from Nickelsdorf) and in Hegyeshalom buy normal ticket Hegyeshalom-Szeged. It will cost about 40 euros max. You have to change train in Budapest for sure and maybe in GyQr, but it depends on which train do you choose.
If anyone needs information about anything inconnection with Szeged, just ask, I will help you!

Ahahhahaa, I just found this, good! But a little strange I have to say.
Why not Sziget? Szeged is even farther than Wien for me.

I think Sziget line-up is complete, isn't it? I've been seeing posters all over Budapest lately. Maybe when the Apes tried to negotiate their way in, all the slots were full .. or there could be 1000 other different reasons

As far as I know, the Sziget lineup will be completed in May only, so there's still hope, but it's awesome that they're playing in smaller places, too.

The line-up of Sziget is even not close to be complete. Just some name is confirmed.
In the daily newspaper I've read that Sziget asked the Apes to perform, but they said, no, we will play rather on SZIN. It is really strange, but I guess they have the reason.
Anyway in some case SZIN will be better...The sounding on Sziget is quite poor nowadays...I've seen not one concert there which was a big shit just because of the soundtechnic.

Hi!
They will play probably on the 29th august
However it is unofficial yet.
I guess the page is under construction, it was online a week ago.
(Anyway, in some news Macy Gray was added to the line up.)
Darude, are you planning to come to Szeged?

Yeah, you can already buy tickets. One day ticket costs 17 euros now and 20 euros on the day of the festival. And three-day-ticket costs 40 euros now, 54 euros on the day of the festival. Well, last year one day of the three was sold out, so if you want to be sure you should buy ticket in advance.
Here you can order ticket online: http://www.jegy.hu/venues/Szegedi+Ifj%C3...i+Napok?lang=en
It is possible also throught the official site of the festival, but the english part is not ready yet.
If anyone needs help, just contact me
Darude, you can camping inside the festival area
Venelin, I don't use skype, just msn. My adress is kitty_saru@freemail.hu (same as my e-mail).
You can reach me on msn and e-mail almost every day, I hope I can help you. (and anyone else also, if someone needs help).
I hope to see you here!
Anyway is there anyone coming to Nova Rock?

There are up to 4 daily buses in the morning from Sofia to Prague. All of them are going trough Szeged (about 12 hours, evening arrival) and only one of them has regular stop in Szeged bus station. I have paid price 75 EUR return Prague - Sofia for GA in Sofia. Remember, many ppl going from bulgaria to work to to midlle europe... But because of crisis buses are with exception of sunday/monday in direction BG => m. europe and friday/saturday m. europe => BG really empty.
My advice, ask in offices in traffic market before railway station for prices to Szeged. I guess they will be pleased to drop off you for example in city and take you on journey back to bus for example in serbian border, which is near Szeged even they don't have stop there or in Szeged, they can give you mobile at the driver for return etc etc... So bargain at all and if they tell you any high price, tell: I have paid last time 75 EUR return to Prague so I expect lower price to Szeged.
And if you have adventure mood, you can go early morning to Serbian border, take bus to Nis, than any to Subotica and Szeged. It will be probably the cheapest way or Sofia - Vidin evening bus, ferry, 3:35 morning train from romanian side, go to Arad, then any bus to Szeged (international railway tickets have steep prices) Good luck

Budapest
but i travelled a bit around (not so much through Hungary, but in neighbor countries). I had the best time of my life
Budapest is an amazing city to live in, specially if you're coming from a small Portuguese town.
