In the early afternoon of March 10th, the official sites of Rock am Ring and Rock im Park announced that Guano Apes will join both of their festivals.
The Facts
Date
Friday 5th to Sunday 7th June 2009
Guano Apes will play on Sunday, June 7th.
Tickets
Availability:
expected to be sold out soon!
Daily Tickets will probably be available a few weeks before the festivals start.
Price:
The 3-day-pass costs € 139,
daily tickets ~ 70 - 80€.
Location
Rock am Ring will take place at the Nürburgring (which actually is a race track), in the Eifel. It's about 80km away from Cologne.
Travel Information
By Plane:
The nearest airports are Cologne-Bonn Link.,
Frankfurt Hahn airport Link.
and Frankfurt/Main airport Link.
By Train:
A shuttlebus runs between Koblenz Central Station and the Festival Area
and (since this year) also between Ahrbück station and the Festival Area.
Both roundtrips cost 10€, a single ticket costs 5,50€

Good to know
- Rock am Ring is the largest festival in Germany. (Visitors about 85.000 a day)
- Rock am Ring and Rock im Park take place synchronous.
- The distance between the festivals is about 400km.
- Both festivals have same Line-up, but different chronological order.
- Travelling time between the festivals is arround 6 hours, depending on the connections.

Rock am Ring/Rock im Park is the best festival I have ever been to, but it's horrible if you just want to see one band in a specific stage (in the tent it's quite easy).
The Line-Up is usually one of the best (if not the best) in Europe!!

Sold out tickets early, too much people, seeing bands is easier in stadium gig than in these festivals

in my opinion last year's line-up was a lot better. (Well - no, actually it was not, because Apes weren't there^^ but with a view on the other bands...)
Rage Against The Machine, Opeth, Incubus, In Flames, Alterbridge, Serj Tankian,...at least over a dozen absolutely awesome bands!
This year i'd be interested only in a few

I'm considering Rock Im Ring/Park as, so far, they're the closest to the UK....I'm thinking of traveling via motorbike ('cause I'd like to do a road trip this year)...
I've never seen GA live and would love to see them somewhere....I think my dream gig would be if they did a mini-tour in the UK and played at some small venues...

Contacted organization of the festivals and no daily tickets this year! (great... NOT!).
Also asked about line-up and apparently it will only be released really close to the festival date.

seen it on tv just now
was awesome performance must say they rock. no Sandra's songs but they did sugar skin, short stage diving was fun too, 50 min instead of usual 75 and they disappeared
but...
what the f**** is going on with german public, oh well...seems they watch movie not the band performance.
i did like the show, Sandra was freakin out, guys did their best

the show was so fucking great!
i like the songs they played but there was one thing i don´t like-
the crowd!
they didn´t sing with sandra for example :break the line
but the band rocked
i have one question:

that's Alberto Alvarez, guitarist of Underwater Circus. He just accompanies the Apes for a few gigs of the festival tour. Nice guy, really 
You can see him already on the live DVD of the Apes at Mine All Mine

I really really really love how they act on the stage!
Sandra's glasses and her pink jacket are cool. As same as the new bassdrum head.
After watching this I feel sooo excited.

I'm still very disappointed
I'd do everyting for a pure GA concert - without Sandra's songs - and the first gig I'm not able to attend they're leaving them out. I'd do everything for hearing my favorite song live - Sugar Skin - and although it has been on the setlist all the time, they play it first time at RaR. I'd do everything for a short glance of Sandra, but at RiP she didn't deign to look at us - at RaR she came down, did crowdsurfing, let the fans sing, kissed them in the end...
I just feel hosed. Is the crowd of RaR so much more of value than the one of RiP? Is it because it was recorded for TV and RiP was not?

Just after my arrival home, I posted in the german board. Now its time for you
My 5 Day at the Nordschleife were really cool and every penny worth.
While the Apes gig, I were in Block A in about line 3, really really near at the stage! For me it was the best gig at the whole festival, and i'm really really happy hearing the apes after about 4 years!
The sound in front of the stage was much better than in the back. For me the gig was great and nearly perfect.
I think there will be something more, but i think we'll have to wait

Also me saw the gig on MTV and I loooooooooooved it. (Maybe also because I had a big lack of GA concerts the last years?)
Sandra was really freaking out. It was pure passion. That's what I love about music and about GA!!!
The sound was bad sometimes and the singing was everything but perfect but who the cares? Much worse was really the crowd....but if you are disappeared for 4 years...what should you expect? Next year HEADLINER!!!
